KUBU RAYA — West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan expressed his gratitude to volunteers and firefighters working on the front lines to tackle forest and land fires in Parit H. Mukhsin, Kubu Raya Regency, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
During his visit to the affected area, Norsan met volunteers and firefighters who were actively involved in efforts to contain the blaze. He personally thanked them for their assistance and dedication.
“Thank you to everyone who has helped,” Norsan told the volunteers and firefighters at the scene.
Norsan delivered the brief message of appreciation while inspecting the burned peatland area and observing firsthand the firefighting efforts underway on the ground.
He said tackling forest and land fires requires the involvement of many parties, with volunteers and firefighters playing a crucial role on the front lines in helping bring the fires under control.
Norsan also renewed his appeal to the public not to burn land during the dry season, stressing that the impacts of fires can affect communities far beyond the immediate area.
“Once again, I appeal to the public: please, please do not burn land during this dry season,” Norsan said.
He also urged people not to use fire to clear land, particularly in peatland areas.
“We hope that no burning takes place on peatland. Please, do not burn peatland,” he said.
In addition to inspecting the forest and land fire site, Norsan brought clean water assistance for local communities. The West Kalimantan Provincial Government deployed three water tankers, with the water scheduled to be distributed to residents.
The visit gave Norsan an opportunity to observe the ongoing forest and land fire response firsthand while personally expressing his appreciation to the volunteers and firefighters working to contain the blaze.
