Accompanying West Kalimantan Governor, Karang Taruna Works to Ensure Firefighting Volunteers’ Logistical Needs Are Met
KUBU RAYA — The West Kalimantan Provincial Board of Karang Taruna has reaffirmed its commitment to standing alongside local communities and frontline personnel in efforts to tackle forest and land fires. The organization has taken on a specific role by focusing its support on providing logistical supplies and nutritional support for firefighting volunteers.
Muhammad Farizi, Chairman of the West Kalimantan Provincial Board of Karang Taruna, said the social initiative is being carried out through coordination and collaboration with West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan and local government authorities, including the Kubu Raya Regency Government.
“Karang Taruna is focusing its support on firefighting volunteers. We provide food, drinking water, milk, and fruit in the field to help maintain their physical condition and ease the respiratory discomfort experienced by volunteers,” Farizi said while accompanying West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan and the Regent of Kubu Raya during a visit to the affected area.
Farizi explained that Karang Taruna’s volunteer efforts were not a temporary response, but had been carried out intensively for more than a month.
“We started mobilizing a month ago, and as of today, it has been one month and two days. Karang Taruna continues to work on the ground—not just for one or two days. We are always here for the people of West Kalimantan,” he emphasized.
The collaborative effort initiated by West Kalimantan Karang Taruna also involves the organization’s boards in Pontianak City and Kubu Raya Regency. The collaboration was established in response to what the organization considers the still-limited support available for the welfare and health of firefighting volunteers working on the front lines.
Going forward, West Kalimantan Karang Taruna remains committed to identifying and meeting the essential needs of frontline volunteers involved in tackling forest and land fires.
Farizi also emphasized that these efforts have received full support from the National Board of Karang Taruna Indonesia.
